This section contains the basic options that are used to calculate the postage amount:

The postage calculation is based on the class of mail, the weight and, sometimes (see note below) the delivery address. If you change any of those factors, your postage amount is automatically recalculated.
Note: Priority Mail, Media Mail, Library Mail, Priority Mail Express, Retail Ground (formerly known as Standard Post), and Parcel Select Ground are based on the destination and where you are mailing the mailpiece from (the zone in Postal terminology). DAZzle contains your zone chart and automatically calculates this amount. The destination zone for the current address is listed to the right of the postage amount. - Type ...MORE
Select the package type from the list of Types. - Class ...MORE
Select the postage class from the list of Mail Classes. As you select a postage class, weight, and postage type, the amount changes to reflect your choices. - Weight ...MORE
For the mail classes that are based on weight (all but postcard), select the weight of your mailpiece. If you change to a different class of mail, you may have to select a different weight category. - Scale Setup ...MORE
If you are using an electronic scale for the first time, you must click the Scale Setup button. In the Scale Settings dialog box that appears, you must:
- Select whether the scale is connected through the serial or USB port.
- Select the name of the scale on the Type list. - Use Balloon Price ...MORE
A balloon price is charged for Priority Mail (zones 1–4) and Retail Ground items that weigh less than 20 pounds and measure between 84 and 108 inches in combined length and girth.

For envelopes, large envelops (flats), or postcard types, you may need to select the Use Nonmachinable Rates option if your mailpiece is a non-standard size. This option is available for the Retail Ground mail class. For more information, see Guidelines: Nonmachinable First-Class Mail. If you select Use Nonmachineable Price, you cannot select Use Balloon Price. If you are mailing with Retail Ground (formerly known as Standard Post) or Parcel Select Ground and nonmachinable is selected and your package measures more than 108 inches but not more than 130 inches in combined length and girth, you may need to select the Use Oversized Rates option. If you are sending international mail, you can view more information about mailing to that country by clicking the International Info button, which is next to the Amount field. This shows information on mailing to that country, including rates for specific weights and classes.
